Join foraging chef Robin Kort in the intertidal zone and learn all about the amazing flavourful seaweeds that grow in the Salish Sea. She’ll teach you to safely identify her favourite tasty edible kelp and include preservation techniques, cooking ideas, ecology and sustainable harvesting practices. Enjoy a tasting a variety of local, wild-harvested seaweeds with chef.

*Meet at a beach on beautiful Galiano Island (only a 50 min ferry journey from Vancouver)
*Class times are set so that you can book your ferry from Vancouver and back in one day if you like, or book a lovely stay overnight on one of the best Southern Gulf Islands.

What’s not Included

What to Bring
  • Bring reef walkers or old tennis shoes, something that can walk over barnacles and can get wet.
  • Beach towel or beach chair
  • Water, sunscreen, hats, please dress for the weather as the class runs rain or shine.
  • Ziplock bag, scissors or pocket knife

Optional items:
Notepad/pen/camera
Swimsuit, snorkel and mask – Class is held in the intertidal zone so no need for a swimsuit if you don’t want to swim.
